		<description><![CDATA[CYB-Advanced Forum Rules plugin for VBulletin targeted for hacks!]]></description>
				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;ve seen some clients VB boards attacked through a vulnerable module.</p>
<p>The problematic module is <em><strong>CYB-Advanced Forum Rules</strong></em> and you can find discussion regarding the attacks against the module in <a href="http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/379072-Site-hacked-can-someone-please-help/page9" target="_blank">this thread on the VB forum</a>.   At one point in the discussion it appeared that the latest version of the module should fix the issue, but then as the thread goes on it appears that some clients still had problems after the upgrade.   For that reason our recommendation is to disable this module and to watch the current discussions on it and only upgrade and re-enable it after a new updated module that has been written that is impervious to the attacks and has been thoroughly tested for awhile.</p>
<p>If you are attacked via this vulnerability please contact VertexHost support ASAP.   We can help restore your site to a backup before the attack took place at no charge if you are attacked.   Or if you prefer not to roll back but want our developers to help remove items that were changed during the attack we can help with that too at an hourly rate of $75.</p>
<p>Assuming that the hack is not any different then most of the ones we have seen the following instructions, as posted on the vb board by user  vktechnology  can be used to remove the hack:</p>

<p>4.1delete everything in this field = usertitle<br />
UPDATE user SET usertitle = &#8221;</p>
<p>4.2update this field customtitle =0<br />
UPDATE user SET customtitle = &#8217;0&#8242; where customtitle = &#8217;1&#8242;</p>
<p>4.3. deelte user id that over &#8217;13371337&#8242;</p>
<p>4.4 Table: user &gt; AUTO_INCREMENT set number to you real latest user</p>
<p>5)Go to admincp &gt; user group &gt; adminstrators<br />
Delete user that you didn&#8217;t add</p>
<p>6) admincp &gt; update counter &gt; update user title<br />
this step you will get users title back</p>

We have some big plans for 2011.   For our shared and reseller customers we&#8217;ll be rolling out some new technologies and upgrading shared and reseller servers.<br />
<br />
For our dedicated server and VPS customers there are some new upgrades coming, especially some expanded monitoring capabilities and earlier warning systems to alert you and us to potential problems earlier then we have ever been able to previously.   We always react to any issue as quick as possible, but we are also constantly trying to find ways to be more proactive so that less reacting is needed.   And some of these new tools will definitely help us do that.<br />
<br />
At different times throughout the year we may need some beta testers to test things for us, so if you are interested in possibly testing any new technologies and or tools just open a ticket an let us know.   Depending on what services you have with us it may be awhile before we need you for any testing, but we&#8217;d like to have a pool of customers that we can draw from when the time comes to test some of these new offers.<br />

Most importantly we want to hear from you.  If there is anything you would like to see us do differently, or a service you would like to see us add in 2011 please feel free to comment here or to open a support ticket so we can know what is on your mind.<br />

Now that we have re-launched the site and that live support is a more common tool around the net we are re-launching live support with brand new, much improved software.  This time it is here to stay!<br />
<br />
Please remember that live support is best for quick questions and support.   For anything that requires in depth investigation and additional account information sometimes a ticket is best, and there may be times that a support rep opens a ticket on your behalf or asks you to open a support ticket.<br />

Anyone poking around the site will see that the original blog posts  for this site were dated back in Feb.    Our original plans were to  launch the new site and new hosting plans at the end of February or  early March.   Unfortunately for one reason or another those plans were  delayed multiple times.<br />
<br />
During that time we did successfully upgrade our network to a 100%  Cisco powered network, and upgraded our network carriers to add greater  capacity.   We also lowered our bandwidth overage rates for our  dedicated server customers.<br />
<br />
So though the site launch was delayed at least we can say we  accomplished some fantastic upgrades for our customers during that time.<br />
<br />
Please keep an eye on the blog to learn more about new VertexHost servers, sales &amp; specials, service announcements and the general mumblings of myself, Billy Cooter, Managing Partner here at VertexHost.<br />

Everyone has been running off of our new Pilot billing system for quite  some time now, but had to log in elsewhere for using the support desk.    We have now gone and integrated the support desk into the billing  system.  That means that you only need to remember one log in to take  care of your bill, view your invoices, manage your server (dedicated  server customers) and contact the support and billing departments.<br />
